
Heidi Peart (she/her) is a community development and policy specialist working on access and inclusion issues impacting on people with disability.
Heidi has worked for the past 20 years in various fields including disability services, supporting self advocacy groups, and more recently undertaking community development and policy roles in state and local government.
Heidi is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Melbourne exploring how people with intellectual disability use social media in emergencies. Her work sits within the research areas of human-computer interaction and information systems in the context of the United Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Through this research she hopes to provide an evidence base to inform the development of more accessible emergency management messaging.
Heidi holds a number of formal qualifications including a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Diploma of Visual Art, Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and a Masters in Social Change and Development.
Heidi currently lives in Melbourne’s western suburbs, on Wurundjeri land, with her baby, partner and two dogs.
